On June 26th the Upton Police Department will hold its 7th annual kids bike challenge and Silent Auction for the Jimmy fund.  The ride is modeled after the Pan Mass Challenge, which is a major fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund.

The ride will start and finish at the Blackstone Valley Technical High School and consists of a 1.5 mile course with the challenge being to complete 10 laps totaling 15 miles.  Children only need to complete what they can.  If parents wish they may ride with their children.  Because the ride is an effort to raise money for the Jimmy fund we are asking each child to raise a minimum of $35.00 or $70.00 per family.   Following the ride, there will be awards handed out to recognize the top 20 Fundraisers.  There will also be a second ride this year.  The tykes and trykes ride is for younger children who do not want to ride on the road.  It will be and obstacle type course for tricycles and training wheels etc.

Registration forms will be available on May 1st at Police Headquarters.  You will also be able to register online at the Pan Mass Challenge’s website at https://kids.pmc.org click on  ride and then to the Upton ride, or you can download the application and deposit slipRiders who return their registration forms into Police Headquarters by June 1st will receive a T-shirt on the day of the event.  Following the ride, there will be a cookout for all participants, families and volunteers.  The cookout is provided by our sponsors (The PMC, Stop and Shop and the Upton Police Association.)

We are looking for items for our silent auction that will be held during the kids ride.  If you have any questions or would like to make a donation please contact Sgt. Lisa Vass or myself at Police Headquarters (508) 529-3200.

Money raised for the challenge can be dropped off at Police Headquarters anytime or turned in on the day of the event.  Donation checks should be made out to the Jimmy Fund.   100% of all money raised will be turned over to the Pan Mass Challenge and used for Cancer Treatment and Research at the Dana Farber Hospital in Boston.
